Labor redefines "victory"

In today's edition of The Politico, Jeff Patch offers an advance look at what will certainly be labor's post mortem on the Employee Free Choice Act:

Gerald McEntee, the president of the president of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), said he simply hopes for a majority vote on cloture. “In 2009, we’ll have a real opportunity and a real chance in putting this into law and giving workers a free choice in whether or not they want to belong to a union,” he explained.

Bill Samuel, the legislative director of the AFL-CIO, said the bill is in “the building stage,” and a vote on the bill would be considered a victory.
